Brian and Kellie, a month later.

When you do radio for a living, you take vacation one week at a time. Even when we left for just seven days, we got calls & mail from people freaked out that their morning was ruined. Most "team shows" leave a "team member" on duty during vacations. Brian & Kellie always took vacation together, leaving a fill-in. This is the up-side of "between gigs." Long, glorious, extended time off. Late night TV (I haven't seen Letterman in years), movies, camping, washing cars, yard work, & dinners out at dinnertime (we used to eat at 4:30.) I have no announcement to make here - just we're happy and groovin' at having this spring free to do anything we want. Thanks for the mail. We hear from listeners everyday. The internet makes this communication possible. I forget how we managed life before it.

Enjoy the time out of the lime light. Just know, your people will listen when you get back on the air.

I pray you stay local. You left once, don't do it again please. B & K, you mean the world to your listeners. Thanks.

Stone is out too? Will Jim Leach do that show too? Its good youre out of there.

B & K: Still miss you guys...a bunch! I've switched over to WNNS just before the 8 a.m. news hoping to hear your familiar voices. When I'm sure that the station hasn't come to its senses, I switch back to WUIS for news on NPR. Would you consider doing local gigs for charity? Hang in there.

It is hard to find a good radio station to listen to now that you two are not on the air. I have tried ABE and its ok but I miss the talking and laughing and the sillyness. Hope to hear you back on the air soon. Enjoy your vactaion.

I enjoyed your show in the AM. I looked forward to my drive to work. I will not listen to wnns as long as you are not there. I have been listening to other stations until i find one i like. Let me know where you go and i will listen to that station.

Miss you in the morning. You need a strong voice for waking up and they just don't have it. Let us know when you get another station.

Glad you are enjoying your break. Look forward to hearing you on the radio soon! We miss you! Keep checking WNNS every once in awhile and hope to hear your voices. Will tune in wherever you land! Good Luck!

I can't believe you aren't on the air yet. Has everyone in this town lost their minds? You guys ARE the radio in Springfield. I want the management types here to know that.

Brian and Kellie A month later seems like years. I've listened to you for at least 10 years and really miss my friends. I'm glad to hear you are well. I, like others, am not listening to WNNS. Hope you stay local because everyone will follow. As Sheryl Krow would say: Put your 45 on (record not sunscreen Kellie) and rock on.

It's so sad. We miss you every morning. It's a lonely drive to work.

It feels like more than a month...

Remember the song, "Where you go, I will follow?" That's me. Saw you in Shopko and wanted to say hi, but was too embarassed. Good luck Brian & Kellie.

Turned WNNS on at 6:00 a.m. one day this week (first week in April) for the first time since your departure just out of nosiness to see if your advertisers had jumped ship. No talking, no music, just this repetative annoying noise. Gave up after 6 minutes. Somebody was asleep @ the switch or failed to show. Didn't listen long enough to find out. Couldn't take it without Brian & Kellie. Don't get my horoscopy, don't get the show buz news, don't get the amazing charm and wit of the dynamic duo. Miss you desperately.

My mornings have been disrupted by your former management. I've called to complain, I've e-mailed, I've snail mailed, I even went to the studios. I've been ignored on all fronts. Please sign on another station and teach those people a lesson. They clearly aren't listening to the audience they pretend to serve.

I cant add anything more to whats been said already, but my family misses you. Please return to our local airwaves? Please? You are several cuts above anything on around here.

Your old station is a mess.

I hope you realize the void in this town without you on the radio. I've shut the thing off. Get back on the radio soon.

Dear Kellie & Brian:
I'm one of your fans. I miss your radio show which I listened to on my way to work in the mornings. You made me laugh and I loved all the interesting topics you kibitzed about, one being your answers to the email questions you received. I know that all of your other fans along with me felt we were listening to our friends every morning. Now I'm kind of crabby in the mornings. I hope you get a new radio show soon and I pray you get one here in Springfield. I'll watch your website for an announcement. May the Chinese law of abundance kick in for you right now.

A fan,
Judy

Hay Brian and Kellie I miss not hearing you on the radio. I refuse to listen to wnns since you have been gone. I guess now I am a channel surfer. I find my self listening to abe fm the most. If you ever get back on a local radio station let me know where and I will listen to that station. -- Leigh Ann Tarvin Jane Addams Elementary

I hear they're going to replace you with another Brian. That's just great. We'll get the faux Brian instead of the real deal. Maybe they'll find a Kelly too.

Anonymous said...

Will you simply take a job here so we can all get back on board with our morning routines?

Anonymous said...

Brian,

Are you and Kellie on the air anywhere? I can't find any recent updates and WNNS sucks so much now, I just listen to cd's, which is getting expensive!

Please, be broadcasting somewhere!

My mornings haven't been the same since you two left. I listed to you two for years!!!!! I listen to WYMG now, but it isn't the same. Your show was unique and could never be replaced by anything else or anyone else. I refuse to listen to WNNS or its affiliate stations. I wrote to the general manager and told him how unhappy I was to see you go and that I wouldn't tune in again until you were both on the air together. He wrote back and told me to stay tuned as changes will be happening. I replied that he was obviously stupid and asked what part of "I'm not tuning in" he didn't understand.

I hope you two find a radio home locally or at least close enough to be able to tune in from Springfield. Until then, I am condemned to channel surfing.....

Even though you don't know me I just want to say how much I miss you and Brian in the mornings. I just heard that Monday a new morning show will air on WNNS......how dare that station. What a joke it will be. You and Brian are not replaceable.

Do you two have anything planned at this time to be back on the radio? I sure hope so...........I will always be a faithful listener.

Will be listening for you
Bye for now
Pam

I know you both have heard many time by now that you are missed. I drive each morning from Taylorville to Decatur, (going on 30 years). I have listened to you both during the drive and have enjoyed your morning comments, games, stories, etc. I found myself getting involved in your discussions and got to the point that I felt I got to know you both thru the radio show. Your personalities came out and I truley enjoyed you both. I have tried to listen to Wnns since, but it is not the same. I now listen to our local Taylorville station.

Let me know when you sign up for another morning show. I am looking forward to you both coming out of "retirement".

'm a fan & wondered how you are. Have you moved to a new radio station? If so, I would like to know where so I can switch. Also, what is your web site? I have lost the info.

Hope all is well..

I'm still without my radio show and you'd think I'd be over it by now. Why a local company hasn't put you back on the air amazes me. I don't know, maybe they have offered you a job. Have you turned them down?

The new replacements Brian and Amy still don't replace Brian & Kellie. Will you go to work for Geoff Neuhoff? Hope you're back soon.

I can't put into words what you guys meant to me. I miss you everyday.

You were the best radio show ever in this town. Please return soon and enjoy the summer. Your names come up often among friends and we're all amazed at what happened. I've called WNNS to complain, but they don't seem interested.

Anonymous said...

Midwest Family Stupidcasting if you ask me. Have you heard the new show? Sounds like my kids on the air. I am amazed. Get back on the air soon and show these people how it's done. I've read most of the comments here and we're all in agreement, you were the best.

I miss you Brian. I listened to you everyday for 15 years. We net once and you bragged about what a special place WNNS was, and they turned around and replaced you. I want you and Kellie to have the last laugh. Speaking of laughing, have you heard the new show? I gave them 15 minutes to interest me, they didn't, and now I listen to WUIS. Even the music is bad now. A big mistake if you ask me.

Brian, Ready for you to get back on the air. You must be going crazy with all the waiting around. There must be lawyers involved. Good things my friend.

I told Kevin O'Dea that he needs to FIRE Fat ass Madonia and hire you two for the morning show.

Think he'll listen? I didn't think so.

Anonymous said...

I'd hire you if I could afford you.

Why aren't the most talented radio people ever around here back on the air? All we're left with are people talking at me instead of to me. I remember the song Big Yellow Taxi and the line, "don't know what you've got 'till it's gone." This applies to you two.
